Phoenix – Five Sentence Fiction

He left me seared, inflamed, incandescent.

I drew myself up, determined that my inner fire would rise from the embers.

Singed and scorched, I breathed, hot air searing my lungs.

My spirit had been burned, but not doused completely.

I will rise and set the world alight once more.

Gossamer – Magpie Tales

No matter the distance between us, you are always present.

You could be a solar system and a lifetime away, but you are here, with me, in me, always.

I imagine a glistening gossamer thread spanning eternity, ethereal, almost invisible.

Delicate it may be, but it is indestructible.
