Pax – Quadrille

DSCN0154

Quiet time, me time

sketching time, writing time

listening time.

Soothe me, relax me

enthuse me, indulge me

cosset me.

Like jewels, but more so

yet fleeting, so ethereal

like butterfly wings

or dandelion kisses

scattered on summer breeze.

This is living for me.

A quadrille about what makes my heart sing.

Equinox – Prompt Night A Dash of Sunny

IMG_1276

There fell upon this rain-drenched land

A ray of light, a soothing hand

of cheer, of warmth, of hope and light

of future joys, such a delight

to the wind-battered peoples down below

who hid ‘neath coats, who struggled so

through darkened morns, and chill-bound eves

who no longer had the will to believe

in evenings soothed with the orb so rare

who sets lights a-shining in young girls’ hair.

This week, A Dash of Sunny invites us to write a poem inspired by Summer. My offering is a little tongue-in-cheek since we have had all types of weather here since Summer officially began. Today, I am bathed in sunshine as I write, but earlier in the day we had short, sharp downpours, interspersed with gloriuus blue skies and thunder as well!

Why not join in and take part? All are welcome and your host is a simply lovely lady!

The Night Sky Lullaby – A Dash of Sunny

Our friend Mr Moon shines so brightly tonight

He bathes your bed in sweetest, soft light

He smiles gently upon you, the whole night long

As Mr Nightingale sings you his lullaby song.

Here is my entry into A Dash of Sunny’s Prompt Night, where this week, we are asked to write about the moon.

I wrote this poem back in the early days of my blog, when I took part in the Trifecta Writing Challenge, a community that is sadly no more. In this particular instance, we were allowed to use 33 words to share a bedtime story routine.

Yes, it’s an old piece, but as soon as I saw the prompt this week was the moon, I thought of my little brother (he’s now 26!), when he used to point at the moon at night and we would call him ‘My friend the moon’. Such sweet memories, such love, such joy. So, I couldn’t help but re-share this little lullaby, I hope you don’t mind the ‘lazy’ route I have taken!

Please do head on over to A Dash of Sunny, enjoy the responses and go on… take part!
