The Big Reveal – dVerse Form for All

Here’s my latest entry into the dVerse Form for All!

Today, our only limit is the number of words – 55 in total.

All the authors showcased by Samuel tonight were better known for their novels, and yet considered themselves poets first and foremost. I was hooked into tonight by reference to Jude the Obscure, one of my favourite classic novels of all time.

I hope you enjoy my offering… And I will visit as many other 55 word creations as soon as I can.

*****

– The Big Reveal –

Realisation breeds fascination
Wonder at a life of sorrow
For I have finally understood
I can start again tomorrow

Yesterday was not the blueprint
It didn’t set my future’s way
Unused hours arrayed before me
Are mine to appreciate and say –

“I am perfect, I am me
Today – is my day to be.”

Blistered – dVerse Open Link Week 125

Here’s my latest entry into the dVerse Open Link – why not take a look at all of the other wonderful responses?

Here’s another trip inside my dark future imaginings – all fiction, no semi-factual miseries are on display tonight!

*****

– Blistered –

The firmament is empty, lost

Beseech the heavens however we may

Silence is our answer now

His throne is vacant, cobweb-strewn.

Spiders dance in macabre delight

Morals swept under carpets thick

With justification of mealy mouths

Speaking half-truths, lies, all lies.

We broke the world with ingrained hate

For ourselves and Nature’s joys

Greed and power have skewed our sight

We are profoundly broken.

The firmament is empty, lost

The abandoned house above, forlorn

Our spirits are directionless

Our hearts are vacant, shattered.

Body of Proof – dVerse Meeting the Bar

Here’s my latest entry into the dVerse Meeting the Bar. This week, Anna is asking us to explore the art of conceit – such fun!

I wasn’t going to even attempt this, but the cruel mistress that is my Muse told me that once I had eaten some dinner, my poetic brain would kick in. I trust her. She is in charge. 🙂

This week, I am looking forward, not back. The past cannot be changed, and yet it shapes your future. You just have to not let it dominate.

– Body of Proof –

My body is tossed to the shore,

Washed up, desiccated, roughened

Yet worn smooth –

The life I knew is distant,

A ship on the horizon

Rolling port to starboard

In the stormy seas.

I may be bladder-wracked

Time and tide has engulfed me

But I am still here

I breathe

I rest on the shingle

The morning heat blushes my skin

I open my eyes

Gaze at sun-kissed clouds

Carrying wind-winged promises

And know that all will be well.
