They only see what they want to see; I don’t blame them really, it’s the way of the world, fast-paced, overwhelming, images of beauty everywhere – or at least what society tells us passes for beauty.

I look perfect, I make no bones about that, I’ve spent years and thousands of pounds adding, removing, refining, sculpting, enlarging, reducing and enhancing to become who, or what, I am now.

They get the shock of their lives when the truth sinks in, when they reach down below and find something extra that they didn’t expect, and to be honest, I get a perverse sort of pleasure out of that.

Sorry, you wanted my name for the interview didn’t you?

Yeah, it’s Steve.

Angel – 3 Word Wednesday

She cannot be reached. I have tried, oh believe me, I have tried.

She is defensive. She hides behind barriers, she is impermeable.

I have seen her, striding purposefully along the city streets, head held high, gaze fixed firmly on the middle distance. She never makes eye contact, ignores the hesitant smiles of baristas, waiters and newspaper vendors. She is ice, personified.

Or is she? Her breath quickens now and again, as if a thought has penetrated, as if her fertile imagination has flooded her mind with colour and light.

I am needy, I confess. I want her to be thinking of me. Just me.

Here is my latest entry for Three Word Wednesday.

This week, the words are:

Defensive

Fertile

Needy

Night Terror – 3 Word Wednesday

You might consider me arrogant. That’s more than fair. Hands up, I confess. But then, a certain amount of arrogance is required if one is aiming for complete and unwavering self-belief.

I am never swayed by the words of others. They are shallow, crude, uneducated people. They subsist on a diet of cheap food, cheaper booze, nicotine and reality TV. Not once do they shift their dull gaze from the ever-present flickering box in the corner of the living room. Not once do they share their hopes, their dreams, their hopes for a better world. I remain unconvinced that they can even  string the words together for long enough. Fake hair, fake eyelashes, fake tan, fake lives.

So, here I stand, figuratively and literally above the whole stinking lot of them. My mind is supple, my thoughts are pure. I have one goal. To ride the world of this corruption. To achieve my destiny.

This is the point of no return.

Here’s my second entry to Three Word Wednesday!
