Mother Earth’s daughter slept the sleep of the innocent, the blessed, the naive.
While she slept, war waged.
Her mother fought battle upon battle. fire with fire, flood with flood, she hurled everything in her arsenal at those who underestimated her.
And yet, forlornly, they had one thing at their disposal that Mother Earth did not, and in the end, it was this that brought darkness to the world and ensured that her daughter’s sleep would never, ever end.
Ignorance – it was this that killed us all.

Oh yes, we have plenty of that!
It’s a shame, but yes we do.
Ignorance is indeed an undiscriminating, self-mutilating weapon…
Indeed, it is.
You’re spot on (as is she) it is ignorance… the lack of questioning and being with the question and the beauty, etc that leads to our demise. Love the words you bring here…
Questioning is everything.
You drift along nicely and then, suddenly, a sharp, powerful ending. Remarkable…
I like to go for the jugular 🙂
Thank you.
It’s interesting how this image, delicate and beautiful, has turned some of our thoughts towards all the violence in the world; the destroyer of beauty. A sad moral for modern times.
It is sad, yes. Perhaps though, it directs us towards a hope that we are aware of how much we need to do to arrest the cycle of violence.
Ignorance walking hand in hand with arrogance. Eventually Gaia will stop throwing everything she has in her arsenal. She will just roll over, change position, and crush us as she adjusts into her new comfortable position, replenishing the earth with new life.
I rather think you’re right.
ignorance, complacency and greed will undo Mother Earth. Welldone
Thank you, Kathe.
Ignorance, indeed. Oh, the lessons the world could learn. Beautiful piece.
Thanks for visiting.
Thank you so much – and you’re welcome!
ignorance – that will certainly kill the gifts the earth has given us and it offers us the very things we need to survive.
It’s a shame that as a species we can’t quite seem to understand that – it at least those with the power won’t admit to the truth of it.
This was great Freya, ignorance is such a curse on us all, you wrote this so beautifully, well done.
Thank you, as always.
That is a strong punch. Indeed the fight is still on…
Well, here at least I feel free to speak my mind. Let’s hope the fight can be won.
Hard hitting , but true
Thank you. And that it seems to be true is the greatest sadness of all.
(magpie) Tail ~ for the ages.
Thank you, Helen. Such a sad state of affairs.
Ignorance is the worst! It causes war. Nice take!
Thank you!
Agree!!!
Ignorance is not always Bliss… Awareness of whats happening around us is a must in today’s world…
Nice take…
Thank you, Arathi.
This was pretty foreboding. Too darn close to reality these days, too.
I’m afraid I agree.
