Penumbra – Quadrille Monday

dsc_0058

Shadow me dark,

shade my soul,

ombré is my colour,

encompass me, whole.

Unfurl your umbrella,

turn my day into deep night,

elongate my torso,

protect me from the light.

Pull my shadow outwards,

take my spirit

soaring

high.

Enlighten me.

I beg you.

It’s Quadrille Monday over on dVerse, where this week we are asked to write a poem of exactly 44 words, using the word ‘shadow’.

Please do take part, or, if you’d prefer, just head on over to read all the other entries. Enjoy!

Wings of Feathers and Wax -dVerse Poetics

image

A solitary remnant

laid to waste, glued to the ground.

Once,

once upon a time

this delicate  creation

this deceptively ethereal whisper

assisted the majestic eagle,

it soared atop mountains

and touched the sky

singed by the sun.

Oh Icarus!

You peaked too son.

Tonight it’s time for dVerse Poetics, where Victoria invites us to write on the subject of feathers, in whichever way takes our fancy. This made me think (for a few minutes)! I was gong to write about the feather’s structure, but (as is often the case) changed my mind very early on. I tend not to fight the muse on these occasions, and go with her flow. I hope you like it!

Please do head on over to dVerse, enjoy the variety… or take part!

Ukigumo nights – dVerse Haibun Monday

Watercolour-whisp clouds, drifting as if the merest hint of Chinese White has been dabbed from sable onto Coeruluem Blue. The sky is a vast upturned cup, an endless realm. I stand and stare, transfixed for a moment, forgetting all that the day has laid at my feet.

This week, it’s Haibun Monday’s turn over on dVerse (and yes, I am a day late, please forgive me!). The lovely Kanzensakura is our host for the haibun and we have been invited to write on the theme of sky.

I hope you enjoy my offering and please do head on over to dVerse to look up, up and away and enjoy what others have written.
